Wallpaper Calculator with Pattern Repeat
Estimate the rolls you need after accounting for wall size, roll dimensions, repeat matching, trim allowance, waste, and large openings.
How to use this wallpaper calculator
Measure the total width of the walls you want to cover, then enter the wall height and the wallpaper roll dimensions from the product listing. If your wallpaper has a repeat, enter the repeat in inches so the calculator can include matching waste.
The estimate is intentionally practical: it counts full vertical strips, rounds each strip up for repeat matching, includes trim, then adds your waste allowance. For expensive or hard-to-match wallpaper, order from the same dye lot and consider one extra roll.
FAQ
What is pattern repeat?
Pattern repeat is the distance before the wallpaper design repeats. A 20.5 inch repeat can require each strip to be cut longer so the pattern aligns across seams.
What if my wallpaper has no repeat?
Enter 0 for pattern repeat. The calculator will use the wall height plus trim allowance as the strip length.
Why can the area method be too low?
Wallpaper is installed in strips, not poured over a wall like paint. A simple square-foot calculation can miss pattern waste, seams, and unusable offcuts.
